On the twelfth day of Christmas...

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Twelve drummers drumming,
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree!

This is the last day of the Christmas Challenge (sponsored by Next) and it's all about drummers! Click here to kit your young musician. Black Drummer Boy Jacket for girls, from £26 and Black Drummer Boy Jacket for boys, from £19.

Happy Xmas everybody and thanks for
following. I don't need to wish you a White Xmas as snow is falling as I type!

The Christmas challenge, sponsored by Next, is coming to an end - only one more day to go... It's probably frantic down the high street and the snow looks wonderful but is not that great if you want to use public transport or your own car! I do tend to cycle and the grit is not bike friendly at all. Some of the bike lanes have not been cleared so it's like being on the skating rink. You can't even go on pavements (some are shared by bikes and pedestrians here in Cambridge) as they have an icy coating. I'll have to get out on my bike tomorrow, good luck to me!

Now back to the task, eleven pipers? Not exactly, but Next.co.uk has piped clothing. My pick of the day includes a White Piped Shirt for him, £26... a Grey Piped Military Coat, £65 for her and a quirky but fun GX Skate Quarter Pipe Set, £20 (pictured below) for older kids.

When no swans are available, you have to make do with ugly ducklings. Fear not, there isn't an ugly duckling in sight on next.co.uk, only pretty fluffy ones, including a cute, spotty duck baby sleepsuit, £7. Or you can opt for the comfy and warm duck boots, from £16 - perfect for this freezing weather!

There are various types of rings on www.next.co.uk - for your fingers or your home. Choose between gold napkin rings £7 for your table or for you, two-tone rings from £18... tricky!

There is plenty of bird-themed merchandise on Next's website: clothes, jewellry and even sculptures! Prices start from £8 for a cute, bird-themed children's fleece, and there is even a Novelty Bird Box in the shape of a roulotte (£10)! Do have a peek by clickling the words 'bird-themed merchandise'.

Talking of French hens, there is a set of four Porcelain Mugs with cute chicken motifs on www.next.co.uk (£7). I have recently bought a set of mugs from the Next shop in Cambridge (pictured below) but didn't see the fowl ones on the shelves. With the festive season coming, it's handy to have more mugs to offer hot drinks...

Pretty vintage stackable mugs from Next, my latest purchase

On the first day of Christmas...

I love Xmas and couldn't resist taking part in the Next  blogging challenge! So here is my first icon and the corresponding lyrics...

On the first day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
A partridge in a pear tree.

My personal challenge is to find something connected with this verse and as Next doesn't sell food or partridge-themed merchandise, I managed to find a lovely picture of pears, £15 for a set of three. Click here to see it.
